Srinagar, July 23 (KNO) : The employees of education and other departments on Tuesday held a massive protest in Srinagar to press for their demands. It was a sea of people assembling in Srinagar press enclave who were pressing for fulfillment of their demands.
The protesting employees included contractual teachers, helpers of social welfare department and cooks working in government schools to serve Mid-Day Meals (MDM) to students.
The protesting employees demanded amendments in SR0520 and SRO-30-GAD of 2019 which they said were against the interests of poor daily wagers, consolidated, contractual and College local fund employees besides other need-base casual laborers and helpers.
“These employees should be regularized properly as per already well defined SRO-64. Inclusion of irrigation seasonal labourers in SR0520,” the protesting employees told KNO. Amid slogans, the employees staged the protest under the banner of Employees joint Action Committee Revolutionary (EJACR).
The protesting employees demanded continuation of contractual teachers who are on strike since last several months and urged the government for continuing services of contractual 10+2 lecturers.
They also demanded removal of pay anomalies of clerical grades and amendment in SR0-333. “We are also Restoration of two additional increments on clearing the Secretariat Assistant Examination Course, which has been wrongly stopped vide SRO-333 Dated 02-08-2018,” the protesting employees told KNO.
They also demanded removal of pay anomaly of masters, leave salary, leave encashment in favour of teaching community and inclusion of 15 years of service w.e.f 1991 to 2006 of migrant substitute employees in their service records for promotion benefits in the analogy of FATs (Fallai-Aam-Teachers).
“The Medical Allowance should be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 5000 per month,” they told KNO. They said the Geology and Mining department was an exceptional scientific system with annual revenue of more than 60 crores and central hub for absorbing majority of youths thereby overcoming the unemployment of the J&K State.
“The department requires reorganization in all the three branches viz; Geology, Mining Chemical and Drilling. At the same time the department needs competent and honest officers for its revival,” the protesting employees told KNO.
The protesting employees also threatened to chose means of protest if their demands were not fulfilled by the government. “The government should abolish SR0-202 and every department should hold DPC after every six months in departments,” the protesting employees said.
They also demanded revival of public, urban sector institutions and provision of budgetary support for them and bringing public/urban sector employees under benefits of 7th pay commission as well.
“Government should enhance wages in favour of Anganwadi workers at least Rs 10,000 per month. The monthly wages of cooks in government schools should also be enhanced from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000,” the employees said.
The employees also demanded a job policy in favour of contractual employees working under different centrally sponsored schemes like NRHM, MGNREGA, SBM and other schemes.
“Government should provide 2.5 days extra pay in favour of employees of Sheep-Husbandry department, information department, wild life department, fisheries department in lieu of their 24 hours duty,” the protesting employees told KNO.
They also demanded release of funds for the purchase of materials which were stopped by previous coalition government to stores procurement department and stationary department.
“Government should provide 10 percent SDA for the employees working in Ladakh region,” they said. They also demanded a uniform and comprehensive transfer policy for all departments and immediate detachment of attached employees particularly in education department.
“Government should provide risk allowance to employees of PDD, SDM and other departments who always serve with a risk of life and they must be covered under a special insurance plan,” the employees said. (KNO)
